ELIZABETH CRIMMINS

MASTER OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE CANDIDATE

UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA, COLLEGE OF ENVIRONMENT + DESIGN

A Chattanooga, TN native, Elizabeth is a third-year Master’s of Landscape Architecture student at UGA’s College of Environment and Design. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Historic Preservation and Community Planning along with minors in Urban Studies and Art History from the College of Charleston in South Carolina in 2018. It was during this time that she gained interest in Urban Design and Landscape Architecture.

Before beginning graduate school, Elizabeth worked as a design intern for the City of Charleston’s Design Division and the Nashville Civic Design Center where she led bike and pedestrian infrastructure design projects and worked on a number of tactical urbanism projects with Nashville’s Tactical Urbanism Organizers (TURBO). During this internship, she also had the opportunity to work with the Design Your Neighborhood program that facilitates design education to the Metro Nashville Public Schools’ middle school students. These experiences sparked Elizabeth’s passion for community engagement and stewardship leading to the creation of this thesis project.

During her time at UGA, Elizabeth has had the opportunity to participate in various community charrette opportunities, and she serves as a Landscape Design Graduate Assistant for UGA Archway Partnership producing design work for small towns throughout the State of Georgia that focus on revitalization, historic preservation, and community resilience. After completing her MLA, Elizabeth plans to pursue a career that focuses on urban design, public space planning, and participatory design.
